| AAAA funds and works with community-based agencies to provide quality, comprehensive services primarily for seniors age 60 or older and their caregivers. A list of major services follows with links to individual providers. Assisted Transportation Services Volunteers provide rides for medical appointments, grocery shopping, social and recreational activities and other appointments. Caregiver Support & Respite Care Services Services and resources focused on meeting the needs of caregivers providing care for an older family member, friend or neighbor. Services include respite, coaching / counseling, education, training and support. Chore Services Services by paid staff or volunteers include lawn mowing, snow shoveling, light and heavy housekeeping, grocery shopping and others. Grocery Delivery Services Volunteers provide grocery delivery services to homebound and frail seniors. Health Assessment/Screening Services Tests and screening procedures for the detection of undiagnosed diabetes. Health Insurance Counseling State-certified staff and volunteers provide information about Medicare, Medical Assistance, health insurance and benefit plans, and prescription drug coverage and help persons with Medicare to compare Medicare supplemental and long-term care insurance policies and options, assist with completing and sending claims and appeals, understand and track medical bills and forms, and claim insurance benefits. Health Promotion Services Education, outreach, screening and home visits promote to health and prevent disease. Current services include group exercise with wellness activities and one-on-one home visists to screen for fall risk and to provide education. Legal Services Legal representation, advice, information and referral on a variety of legal issues: housing, health and income benefits, citizenship and consumer credit Nutrition & Nutrition Support Services Food and good nutrition are key factors in successful aging. Together, they help reduce disease related disability, promote health and support increased mental and physical functioning and active engagement in life. |

The Committee guides the activites of the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging. Persons age 60+ are especially encouraged to apply.
