| If you are helping a spouse, family member, neighbor or friend with doctor’s appointments, errands, medications or personal care, you are a “caregiver” …and you are not alone. An estimated 500,000 Minnesotans age 18 and over provide unpaid care for an older adult or adults with disabilities. Take the advice of other family caregivers: •Get plenty of help early on so you don’t become overly stressed or exhausted. •Accept help from others. Give them task lists, when they ask how they can help. •Take time for yourself. Don’t stop doing the things you enjoy. •Take care of your own health. Eat well, get rest. •Call the Senior LinkAge Line™ at 1-800-333-2433 or go to www. MinnesotaHelp.info to get connected to advise, education and community supports that can help you care well for yourself and your family member or friend. Check out the following options available to help you care well for yourself and your family member or friend.
